Although Mercury Development is now an established custom software development company with over eight years in business, in our early days we developed a few simple retail applications for mobile platforms. One of these applications, the award-winning Bough Puzzle Game was recently resurrected to provide valuable training to our Windows Mobile developers on best practices. As a result, Bough is now a Designed for Windows Mobile™ application that we are offering as a free download for your Windows Mobile device.
A Brief History of Bough Puzzle Game
| January 2001 |
Between overseeing development of innovative custom applications for our early customers and managing the growth of our development center, our COO creates a small Palm OS application as an entertaining diversion. |
| February 2001 |
Bough was submitted to major mobile application resellers - PalmGear and Handango. It even generated enough revenue to supply the office with coffee and sugar! |
| April 2001 |
Handera creates a new PalmOS device that supports a graffiti area that can be minimized to allow more application screen resolution and creates a contest for applications developed that support this new functionality. Bough is selected as a winner in the HandEra 330 developer contest for which Mercury was awarded a free HandEra 330 device.

One of our developers learns the idiosyncrasies of Pocket PC development by porting Bough Puzzle from Palm OS to Pocket PC. |
| April 2007 |
Pocket PC code is refactored to comply with Microsoft Designed for Windows Mobile™ set of rules; the resulted application is submitted to LioNBRIDGE (an official Microsoft agent for testing) and successfully passes all required tests. Bough is resurrected as a Designed for Windows Mobile™ application! |

Game Story
Bough is an exciting puzzle game that challenges users to save a tree's life by rotating branch pieces until the entire tree has access to the water supply.
A living branch has been cut into separate pieces (we did not do it) and it is slowly dying. The pieces have been left in their places but they have each been rotated randomly. Fortunately, the water source in the center of the field still feeds the branch. When water reaches the cut pieces they come back to life and leaves begin to grow.
You must save the entire branch by tapping on the pieces to rotate them so that the entire branch receives water and can come back to life.
